Humidistat/Dehumidistat

I want to hook up a device to control a window ac unit (in the summer) or a humidifier (winter) so that either device will cycle on based on the (centrally located) humidistat's settings. Is this workable? ( window ac units cycle on/off based on temperature. I want it to work based on humidity level)

I think this will work to control both a window ac unit (summer) & my console type humidifier (winter)

I'll mount it on the wall & then run a heavy gauge ac line to the units. I can't imagine why it wouldn't do what I'm looking for??
(I'll just set the ac unit at it's lowest temp & the humidifier at it's maximum level to bypass their internal controls)
