Barack Obama in The Audacity of Hope

I'm surprised this topic didn't get any responses from members that like to "discuss" politics.

I'm totally skeptical of all politicians but I do like what he did already. No money for his campaign or the DNC from lobbyists or PACS. When he ran in PA he refused to give the thugs, I mean ward captains, street money. Maybe he does have a different approach to politics. I guess we'll see.

I wish just once these politicians would say exactly how they are going to pay for these programs. Nothing detailed but how does he give teachers 100,000 a year salary, provide medical insurance for everyone that needs it and start to pay down the debt? Teachers salaries normally come from the school districts. My property taxes just doubled. Is he going to push that salary hike onto the homeowners, raise income taxes, or fund it some other way? Promises are easy to make. What I want to know is how do we cover the costs.

The burden of paying for all Obama's "changes" will ultimately fall on the shoulders of the taxpayers.

It will still be a mere fraction of the cost of paying for the Bush family war in Iraq John!
( & at least we will benefit from most of his programs...like health care, veteran's benefits, infrastructure repair...etc)

In large part because the federal government has drastically cut aid to the states for education in order to pay for the Iraq occupation which benefits noone except Exxon-Mobil.

Agreed. Those same companies cover their butts by paying off everyone on both sides. Unfortunately, as you say, any politician has to play the game.
