Since 1969, more than a dozen environmental statutes, each spawning volumes of unnecessarily costly regulations and litigation, has targeted all manner of industrial activity. Some of these jobs have been destroyed outright, while others have been outsourced to nations with less expensive restrictions or none at all.

But the Climate Security Act, currently being debated in the Senate, may do more economic harm than all these past laws put together. Beginning in 2012, the bill cracks down on emissions of carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels, which is blamed for global warming. This would raise energy prices significantly....
This bill didn't make it through yesterday, not sure why I didn't read more about it considering the impact something like this will have. I'm sure if Britney Spears was involved we would have heard more...

Today's vote by the Senate on the Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act (S. 3036) likely spells an end to efforts to pass major global warming legislation in the 110th Congress. However, the vigorous debate and strong support from both sides of the aisle for this bill have laid the groundwork for successful passage early in the next Congress.

Attempts to bring a global warming bill up for debate were blocked in the Senate on Friday, derailing what would have been the first federal U.S. climate change legislation.

According to published reports, Democrats fell short of the 60 votes necessary to end a Republican-led filibuster.

It's a great relief the bill didn't make it through. I don't know what the deal is with Joe Liberman, he's the only Democrat that seems to make any sense to me and then he does this.
