I called the coal breakers listed on this forum and most wont sell 20-25 tons I am looking for rice for the boiler I havent bought yet. Harman vf3000 maybe Jan, Keystoker at least 12 weeks. I don't want any thing to big Kaa2 is what I was thinking 1400 sq ft raised ranch well insul. about 700- 800 gals a year with my oil boiler with a coil Any info on coal or coal boilers would be helpful. If you're buying in that amount and ask I'm sure they will provide the specs.
Where is your thinking cap, go get it, you say you are new to coal, OK .... start out slow and go from there. 25 ton is a lot of coal, Don't know if seasoned members would buy that much without knowing sourse, qualty, and what ever.
just my two sence?

I'm new to this coal thing but this is what I've learend by phone calls and reading.
Penn Keystone is a broker. That means they do not mine coal, they buy it and resell it. They agree to sell you coal at $X a ton. The cheaper they can buy it, the more profit they make. You do not actually know where it comes from. It might come from one place this week and another next week.
From what I've read, you can't tell by looking. You can't even tell by burning a bag, you need to burn it for a week to get a feel for it.
All the experianced coal burners say to never buy unknown coal. I took their advice and am buying a truck load of Superior.

I tried Superior 140 they would not sell me more than a few tons, UAE 130 3-5 tons, Summit 140 will sell a full load but the trucking price was 2000+ for 250 miles (one way) Lenig 130, Have not checked the price with ther recomened trucker yet. Penn Keystone Broker 135+ 35 per ton trucking big price diff. on trucking. If anyone knows of good coal at 170 ton delivered Please let me know. Thanks Ed

If you're getting a price of $170 a ton delivered to Massachusetts thats an incredible deal assuming you are not getting a pile of rocks.
I bought 24 tons last fall from Penn Keystone for $165 ton delivered to western Connecticut. I've burned coal for years obtained from many sources. The coal I received is just OK. Ash content was slightly higher than the best coal I've gotten in past. Most annoying issue is that it tends to form large clinkers unless you shake grates and poke fire often. Lots of roots in coal also, but that wasn't really a problem as they burn too.
