What's the Price for 1 Ton of Coal in Your Area? 2008-09
A couple weeks back we took delivery of two tons of bagged rice "reading coal" from Downeast Coal. Delivered it came to just about $750.00 for two tons.
That should last us through this heating season. I would love to go in on a trailer load next spring but don't see how I could handle twenty plus pallets of bagged rice.

Is there anyone on here who knows whether coal prices are going to hold steady this winter? I called my supplier for truckload pricing and it was up a dollar sixty nine per 50lb bag. OUCH.

Carl's in Sciota is in the same situation, waiting for the Blaschak delivery.found a dealer in Wind Gap (Cozy Heat) that carries it BUT they have not received their fall shipment yet and could not provide a date or a price/bag yet. Sometime in September
4tees, Razzler is right, you are close to the breakers, you can make a coal run and save lots of $$$.
I expect all the dealers to raise their prices due to the higher costs of diesel and gasoline to move that coal around.
That is understandable but no doubt some will gouge the customers. Be careful out there!Wood'nCoal wrote: I expect all the dealers to raise their prices due to the higher costs of diesel and gasoline to move that coal around.

Just came back from Hudson Anthracite with 4 tons bagged rice @ 200 a ton to CT today and unloaded 2 1/2 by myself 3000 thousand lbs left on the truck for tommorow. With the rental & gas I saved about $200. A coal dealer by me wants 295 a ton for Reading. So I figure I got better coal for less, but my body is killing me right now, don't know if it was worth it?

I've put 2 ton of pea in my new coal bin.
The first load I got from Casey Kassa, Nanticoke, PA @$139/ton, picked up. (I've had pretty good luck in the past.)
The second two loads I got from Back Mountain Natural Heat, Dallas, PA @ $150/ton, picked up. (This coal looked real nice. Time will tell.)

Just called Dennis Coal and Stoves in Fabius NY (south of Syracuse) and he is getting $220/ton for bulk rice
I have two sources that are free to me. One of them is run of mine lump, the other is 3" minus. There is also a mine here that sells oiled coal here and my guess it that it runs about $20 per ton. BTU content runs from about 7900 to 9000, ash runs about 5%, and very low sulfur.
