What's the Price for 1 Ton of Coal in Your Area? 2008-09

Friday 1/31 I picked up a ton in Whitehall NY $330 wanted nut the chute was labeled nut but coal looks more like pea, burns good though. I don't know what breaker it came from

could get it cheaper If I bought by the ton.Got room for 30 40lbs bag in garage.could store outside but don't want to deal with the weather am 80 years old and if I don't have to go out side I wont.Drive by tha dealer once a week on my way to town pick up coal then.

I just had two ton of rice coal delivered 2 days ago. I paid 200 a ton plus $14 per ton delivery charge. I live in Johnstown, PA which is in the mountains in SWPA.
Just picked up a ton in the f-150. I drove 140miles round trip. paid 140 for the nut and 1.89/gal for gas for a total of 140+19= 150 I saved 70usd and I got out of the house and had a nice drive. I like having the local dealers near for emergency but when they want 220+ a ton, I make the time 05 feb 09 central PA
Paid USD240/ton + 50 delivery charge in NE Ohio. It's allegedly Reading nut. It is nut, but lots of fines. I have no idea what breaker it came from, and I have to take the broker's word on it being Reading.
I had to buy the wood I was burning...lot clearings and sawyer rejects from local timber dealer. USD600 for a triaxle load of poles that I had to process and split. If I gotta buy it, cut it, split it, haul it in, and load the stove every 4 hours I might just as well get coal. Less work less often, more BTU per unit measure, less ash.

I don't think you will see a decrease. Small increase toward fall or stay flat.tugcapt wrote:Hello Everyone

I just got 3600 lbs. from Summit for $288.00. That's 160 ton. 
I mentioned this on another thread. I had the same thought as to what might happen with coal prices this summer with oil dropping over 50% since last summer. Blaschaks locked into their oil contract last summer. Today, we're paying for that oil cost factored into the coal. I suspect there's going to be at least a 20% drop in coal prices this summer. Also, somebody else mentioned that coal has to be significantly cheaper than natural gas and oil or else nobody would bother with the hassle of coal. With that said, I wonder if there's a target ratio coal supplies like to sell when compared to oil and ng? Any smart business person has to price their product against other products.
Oil price drop should help drop the price of anthracite. Diesel use is a large part of production cost. Delivery should be down

Burned coal for 20 years, made switch last year from local dealer selling Reading to a dealer in South Tamaqua after seeing their add in the Allentown paper. American Premium Coal Sales 150.00 per ton Pick up or 175.00 delivered minimum 5 tons 2008 price( i'm 30 miles away). Cleanest and best burning I have ever used. They quoted me 195.00 per ton this year delivered and 150.00 pick up. A bit surprised price is more than last year since oil prices tanked. Hopefully it's same quality.
