Anyone have experience with Jeddo Coal

Does anyone have any experience with Jeddo Coal.

I bought two, three ton loads last year. It was pretty good.

I've used it the last two years, I have no complaints. Not alot of ash and good heat. This year I'm going with some deep mined coal from Harmony Mine.

I bought a full truckload of rice from them last summer. The coal was fine and Robert Pagnotti was very helpful in arranging trucking.

I have been burning Jeddo for four years now. it has a white ash and burns well. They sell it in Saylorsburg, right off Rt.33 for $166.00 ton

I burned a ton last heating season. It does burn well. I had unburned pieces but even with those the ash was low. It's pretty good coal Scott

It sounds like Jeddo 'cleaned up their act'.. I bought some several years ago from a local retailer.. he and his customers were really unhappy with the variations in size, dirt, twigs, fines etc.

But from the above posts, it sounds like Jeddo has stopped with the reclaimed coal, and have starting selling a better quality than the stuff I had...

I had lots of unburnt and fairly high ash content,, this was with an underfeed stoker, where it should have all burnt completely,, if it could burn..

So while I personally wouldn't get a 24 ton trailer load of it,, it sounds like it is an OK source lately..

Probably more of a case of you got a bad run as opposed to they cleaned up their act. Jeddo has always had a good product. It's not a small operation, AFIK know they have the most modern breaker in the region. It was just built a few years ago.

Jeddo is unionized and they had a lengthy strike a few years back, forget when but it wasn't very long ago. Might have been during that time you got bad load. They really have no reason to push a bad product because they have access to raw coal and the means to procure it.

Man! One scoop from that thing and I would have enough coal for the rest of my life.

The guy i bought my Jeddo coal from is a retailer in N. Indiana.. he supplies the Amish with Nut and Pea coal.. the coal was full of wood and small pieces.. so much so that he bought a motorized dirt sifter, to sift out the small pieces.. so that his customers would stop complaining.. He had been buying from Jeddo for several years.. and had been sifting the small stuff out for several years..

I bought 10 tons of the siftings,, it was about like a mix of rice and buckwheat.. I burnt it in my Iron Fireman underfeed stoker... I had plenty of black pieces in the ash.. with Superior buckwheat I have ZERO black pieces in the ash.. in the same stoker.. So I stand as 'not impressed' with Jeddo,, untill proven otherwise..

I know that there can be problems with labor, a vein of coal etc.. but if their breaker is one of the newest,, why doesn't it sort the coal better?? UAE, Superior, Summit all have pretty consistant coal size for each size... Maybe that new breaker isn't as good as the old breakers at sorting and sifting??

Just my experiences.. I'm glad other members' experiences were better than mine..

I have a local retailor near Palmerton, PA who is selling Jeddo coal for about 180 per ton (delivered) with a 2 ton minimum. He seems to be an honest guy and I have heard good things about him and Jeddo. Just wanted to make sure I didn't hear too many horror stories like Greg reported.

I have a question about your post. If you used Jeddo the last two years without any complains, why are you going to the deep mined coal this year? I'm new to this and wonder what you are trying to gain.
