does this chimney look blocked??

I removed a couple of bricks from the bottom of my chimney to use the second flu. That flue was used for a coal/wood stove on the first floor probably about 40 years ago.I’m planning on cleaning it out and installing another ss liner in it.I’ve already removed about 7 5 gallon buckets of crap that came out so far. I want to run a handfired coal stove in the basment on low just to keep the chill out of the basement

It looks like it is obstructed if that is not the bottom of the chimney you are showing...it looks like mortar..or clay from looking at the picture...try poking it with some cleaning rods to see what it mat be...

the stove that was used on the first floor at one time is about 15 feet from the bottom of the chimney.it comes out just makes one hell of a dust ball going on in the basment

WOW...you may have to build a little covering out of plastic or tarps to try to confine the dust...that is one packed flue....they must have never cleaned it ..ever...wear a dust mask for sure..never know what is in the dust..be safe....

I would suggest poking it with a stick while looking up.
