The default is they get held until they make room if the box is full. You can set it to automatically purge old PM's so you don't have to manually delete them

User Control Panel>Private Messages tab .... Click the link on the lower left that says Rules, folders & settings . Down the bottom next to "If folder is full:" select "Delete oldest messages" and submit it.

I increased the max PM's to 200, or did you mean the max amount of file space for attachment's in PM's?

Not really sure how that works as far as clearing out old attachments in PM's. I never send them in PM's. :P

50 to now 200

Perfect -- much more manageable - this gives the older ones a chance to age and become less important!

Sort of like me the last 10 years

If you want to save them you can move them to the save box, you can even create custom boxes, rules etc. It's very much like a email client.

Actualy... each custom box can contain 200 messages and you can have up to 4 custom boxes. Including the inbox that's a total of 1000.

Only reason I limit it is because if I didn't people come and go and all those messages would add up to a lot of space especially if they are using the attachment feature never to be read again. I'd imagine there's many MB's of unread very old messages from members that no longer come here. Probably have to do some purging at some point in time. The text don't add up to a huge amount but it will over time.

Thanks Richard, you da man! Now I can have more help for my senior moments by being able to go back and look at more messages to remember what the hell I said. :?
