Hi all. Have been reading this forum and have learned quite a bit and I am thankful to all the posters.I have a cape which looks like a ranch, the upstairs is not finished and is not heated. The cellar is also not finished so basically I only heat the main floor.Main floor has three bedrooms . My living room and kitchen are opened up as if they are one big room.I have central air and baseboard hotwater.I was thinking of getting an Alaska Channing 3 stove with a 6" pipe that will connect to a register to blow hot air upstairs. My heating area is about 1360 square feet.I installed a new oil furnace last year but with prices now so high im looking for a second form of energy. My question is do you think I will be able to heat the main floor from the basement or do I need a furnace that will connect to my duct work from the a/c. My bedrooms are down a short hall so Im concerened about how warm they would get using this stove. The dealer said he would not recommend this unit to use in my existing duct work as there would not be enough hot air to blow to all the rooms. Thanks so much for your input Nolman23
