That is the exact thing that I am so afraid of. My son is 8 and I need to be around until he has grown. He is my best friend.

Sorry to hear that. I know that I am supposed to keep a certain line between professional and personal, but I, as a minister in additon to my AHS duties, and my church will be praying for you. Keep looking up, both on just an emotional level, and a spiritual one.

Rick,
I'm really happy to hear the good news! :dancing:
Thanks for sharing your experiences with us through this challenge.
You've given us all a reason to reflect on what's really important in our lives. There's a lot of value in that for all of us.
God bless you...

Good point Len!

Rick, your courage in sharing this very personal adversity has given us more than we have given you in return.
Thank You!

Philippians 4:11-13

Not that I speak in regard to need,
for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:
I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound.
Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry,
both to abound and to suffer need.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Thanks so much everyone.
Your replies and PM's helped carry me through.
On a slightly funnier note! I have had gout in my ankle in years past but have not been bothered by it for 4 years. Well today when I woke up, My first worry free day in a long while. I can not walk! It seems my gout has chosen this morning to flair up. I was fine when I went to bed last night but this morning my ankle has servere pain when any pressure is applied to it. When this initialy happened it took the docs about a month and 1/2 to figure out what was wrong. The one doc aid he had never seen gout up high in someones ankle like that. Well off to the doctor again! :x Damn, it is always something.

Gout, schmout. You can still take your son fishing if you have gout. If need be, have him pull you on a sled on the hard water to your spot.

Sooooooooo glad to hear the update.

It may be time to go buy a lottery ticket !!!! Powerball is tonight. But if you do hit it, you must share some with me. :D

Looks like 2009 wil be a great year for you Rick.

Wow, I missed this thread last summer, glad to see Wills Eye took care of you Gambler. Great hospitals in Philly. I spent quality time in Childrens' CHOP as a teen, Pennsylvania Hospital & Jeff.
I was struck with stage 4 melanoma in 2001. We took the aggressive rout and I'm still here to talk bout it.( Long story, I think my oncologist wrote a paper on me as I was a lab rat for the next 5 years). There are marvelous treatments today to battle cancer of all types. I am sure there are many good folks on this board who fought their own personal health battles or watched loved one fight off disease. Each of us deal with it in our own way. Stay strong and live well. And don't worry! You can do it.
