Gambler, not that what I did to myself 23 years ago compares, but when I crashed my bike, I was pretty much a goner. Punctured lungs, 13 breaks of my spine, head cracked open, lots of other internal injuries . I was so bad they didn't write me a drunk driving ticket because they were sure I was meat. They even passed the life flight to someone else who was less severely injured. The old brain can kick some major ass. Fortunately for me I am a stubborn bastard and it has served me well. Keep your head in the game, it is an amazing tool. I wish you the very best New year possible, which is that you keep the will to fight this thing.

You have a large group of people praying for you. Positive mental attitude is everything. Easy for me to say, I know, but I know of what I speak.

Much love.

Stay strong and hang in there Rick. You're in a lot of prayers each day.
You're gonna beat this thing.

Prayers for strength headed your way. Spiritual strength as well as physical. Waiting is awful. I hope they come back with good news & that 2009 is much better than you'd hoped.

I am here to give an update. I went to the doc today to have my drain removed from my cancer excavation site. She removed the drain and told me she didn't have the pathology report yet. I said cmon I need to know. She said she had grabbed some new ones today but hadn't looked over them yet. She went to see if mine was in the stack of new ones. By this time you could cut the suspense with a knife. She finally came back into the room and I was trying to read her face. She said "Mr Gamble I have read over your report and It looks like you have a negative and a negative" The lymph node contained no cancer and the skin from the outer parts of the excavation site contain no cancer either. You talk about feeling like a huge weight had just been lifted off of my chest. I just can't describe the initial feeling. I have all of you to thank. It has been an emotional time for me and you guys have been there with all of the support that I needed. I do want to thank all of you and your kind words and prayers that have hepled me more than you will ever know as I walked down the path of the unknown. I have been fortunate to have won both of my battles but I have not yet won the war. I have seen alot of young children with various cancers at the treatment centers that I have gone to. It just tears you apart when you see those young faces and know that they are fighting for there lives. I am now going to start to donate to cancer research. I know it will be a small amount compared to what is needed but if it helps just one of those children it will be worth it.

Take Care and God Bless.

Wow what great great news! Now do every thing they say and do it when they tell you for a good full recovery. My wife and I listened to everything the docs said and she is doing quite well for everything she went through with cancer. Again great news! :dancing:

Hey, I just noticed your first post myself and read every one thereafter. My mom fought it for ten years and passed away when I was 12. My dad was rarely around. I drank very heavily until I was 21. I hope before it's my time I can have the courage I've seen in people with major challenges, I hope I can be grateful and not be hatin'. All of these posts have me thinking about the things I think are important. I'm absolutely moved by the kindness of everyone here, very happy for your good news. Be well buddy!
