Stoker Gear Oil

Stoker Gear Oil

PostBy: daluds On: Mon Jul 07, 2008 11:38 am

Finished installing the oil burner for the DF-520, and now working on getting the coal running. I didn't find any instructions on setting up the stoker, but did find a can of gear oil. How much do I put into the stoker gear box? What is the suggested air setting to start with for the first time? Is there any other information available other than the user manual to start burning coal?

Thanks,

Dave

In the owner's manual, it tells about filling the oil pan under the gear drive. Follow the directions in that manual. The gearbox is lubricated for life. I would start with 4 teeth of feed and 4 air. The guidelines are on the last page of your manual. Set the Wil-burt timer to 2 and 1/2 lines to the right of the zero. Line that spot up with the centerline of the clamp screw. That's 2 1/2 minutes. Set the aquastat at 150 LO and 200 High for the summer. Even try 140-190. For winter go to 160-200.

I found reference to the reducing unit (gear box), ratchet oil reservoir and fill oil cups on the stoker motor in the Before Start Up section, and the air settings in Table 2 at the end of the manual. I'll sort through this tonight. Thanks for the feedback.
