As I mentioned before I(and my Uncle when he was the owner) dealt with them strictly for almost 15 years. You won't find a better product in the Wyoming Valley from my past experience. It better be good because I got 14 ton coming next week.

Richard S., I have been talking to people in the upper valley above Scranton, Pa and like you, they seem to like Hudson Coal. This is my first year burning coal so I need to stock up.Richard S. wrote:As I mentioned before I(and my Uncle when he was the owner) dealt with them strictly for almost 15 years. What is the minimum amount Hudson would deliver? I live 12 miles north of Scranton.
And is there a price break on more coal? I am willing to buy as much as 23 tons of rice coal for the right price.
Thanks,
Jack

So it's clear when I say deal with them I'm talking on the commercial side of it, thousands of tons each year. I don't know who they have delivering now. You'd have to call them for to find out what the cost and minimum delivery is. They'll be able to hook you up with someone if they don't want to do it themselves.

Well just put 12 ton in, the 14 as I originally intended would have been too much work. 3 trips on a 4 ton truck, total time was about 2 hours. Feels good to look in the bin with coal stacked up to the rafters. I'll be good now until September or October of next year. Anyhow looks to be about average or above quality. Not a lot of flat stuff, mostly nice "round" pieces which is what I look for when judging coal.

The $130 is if you pick it up yourself and that price isn't going to be around a lot longer. The price has always gone up by the last of august at Hudson and I suspect that this year a price increase is not too far off. Remember coal prices when they do go up go up, it's not incremental price increases like you have with oil. I'll take a wild guess that it will go up $10 by the end of August with probably another $10-$20 increase before its all said and done. If the stockpiles for rice are as low as I understand they are and they have to start making rice(assuming they will do that) that will probably have another $20-$30 surcharge on it.
