I've read here that the Hitzer 5093 hopper can be removed. The dealer that I'm talking to about this stove says that it cannot burn Bituminous coal or wood. Soft coal will burn up the hopper and the hopper comes down into the firebox too far to burn anything other than kindling. I'd like to hear from someone who is using this stove. Can the hopper be removed? Can you burn soft coal and wood in it? Is the blower option worth the extra cash?
If not will the Hitzer 354 do the job I'm looking for?
Everyone on this forum is incredibly helpful and I greatly appreciate all your answers and info in my quest for a coal stove! I just do want to spend a lot of money on a stove and freight that isn't going to work out for us. It's really hard to buy these things on the phone and thru email! Sheesh!
