Has anyone with a K-6 boiler burned both the Rice or Buckwheat coal and what are you opinions on either of them. Is there any advantage or disadvantage with either. It seems like Rice at some breakers is harder to get now with the rush of people who are buying boilers and stoves now but the Buckwheat is still readly available. I'm getting a bulk delivery from Superior next week and after talking with Lori today, she said to call the day before to see if they will even have enough Rice processed but there's plenty of Buck available. Would it be worth waiting for the Rice, or is the Buck just as good to burn.

I have a KA6 and have burned both rice and buck in it. I have been burning rice in it this summer to keep the hot water warm, but all it has to do is idle most of the time, always have plenty of hot water and never have run out. In the colder weather when I'm calling for heat I like to burn buck, I seem to get a hotter fire with it

As long as you are using a chimney and not a power vent the buck will work fine. If you know you can get the buck jump on it, let the rice for those who need the rice.
Just my thoughts.
