VISTA Problem

VISTA Problem

PostBy: Devil505 On: Fri Jul 18, 2008 7:57 am

My HP computer (VISTA) suddenly wont display certain web pictures (like the weather map) or other pages (like my Macafee Security Center just shows up as a blank pop-up when I open it, but I know the program is still there) for the last few weeks?? Is there something in the Control Panel I should reset?
I get the following pop-up blank window occasionally with just the window title showing which says:

C:\Users\Devil505\AppData\Roaming\GTEK\GTU Update\Channels\ch_u1\HTML\Toolwindow\toolwindow.htm

For the Macafee problem try this. Open internet explorer & go to tools, internet options, click the security tab and make sure the "internet zone" is selected. Select "Custom level..." and make sure "binary and script behaviors" is set to Enabled and not Disabled or Administrator approved. Good luck.

Sounds like something in your internet security settings has changed, probably from a recent update. Follow spc's advice and see if anthing looks strange in your internet zone security preferences.

I had some problems after a recent update. What I found out is that I had to turn off my PC completely not just reboot, (I even went as far as unplugging the PC) and everything has gone back to normal. hope this helps.

Just tried an experiment:

This is the web sites that IE won't paint

I just tried it on Firefox & got a pop-up saying I needed to download a newer version of Flash Player plug in.???

You should be getting a drop down "status bar" on the top of IE to download the new version. This is one of the few things you want to install when you get a activeX notice.

You can manually install it from here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download ... kwaveFlash

You have to install it where you saved it. Go to the folder you saved it in & click on the (install_flash_player.exe) & it should install the player. Make sure you download the correct player for your web browser, firefox or ie.

If you install from the prompts from the browser, e.g the ones that automatically pop-up I don't even think you have to select a place to install to.

The SAVE pop-up defaults to install it in my USER folder, but that remains blank as well??( I installed it to my desktop but when I run it, it installs only to Firefox) I even copied it to my IE folder. Since IE is part of VISTA, I can't figure out how to uninstall IE & then re-install it from the net??

Try visiting the link above with IE, there's probably two install install programs.

I don't have Vista so I don't know if there is any pecualrities to installing it on IE with Vista.
