Latest update,, Saturday morning..

I spoke with Matt's daughter. Matt's move to University of Pennsylvania at Philladelphia last night went fine.. Matt is sedated pretty heavily because of the pain/headaches. Testing and pre-op proceedures continue with Surgery possibly tomorrow or Monday.

I told Hope and his daughter to pass along to Matt that the forum is praying and keeping him in our thoughts..

That's awful news. I just spent almost an hour talking to Matthaus last week as he was on the road getting another boiler. My thoughts will be with him and his family for a speedy recover. Information about the Pituitary gland tumor is here

http://www.cnn.com/HEALTH/library/DS/00533.html

Sounds like it's very treatable.

Matt answered his phone tonight.. I was very pleasantly surprised.. He said he has been mostly sleeping all week because of the pain medication, but I caught him awake..

He said that blood work and preparations of his surgery continue.. he expects the surgery to be on Monday.

I let him know that we are all praying and rooting for him, keeping him in our thoughts. He said thank you to all.

Matt is in good spirits and is upbeat, he did say that the tumor is about golf-ball size and that it is interfering with his vision, which the link above posted by Yanche provides information about..

So that's it for now.. I'll update again tomorrow if I have more information.

It is a bit depressing to look on the off topic posts anymore. I'm sorry to hear of the health problems some members are going through. Matt; I wish you well and pray you get through this with flying colors. As reported on a different post, Gambler, our prayers are with you too as you get treated and recover from your eye cancer.

Greg, thanks for the updates. And Yanche, thanks for the link regarding pituitary gland tumors which was very enlightening. I'm no doctor but I feel pretty positive that Matt will be pulling old coal boilers out of their hiding places very soon. Matt, if you feel well enough to be reading this, I'm going to need alot of guideance if I have to install a coal trol on my VF3000 to burn buck coal so get well soon! We miss you.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Matt and having a few long talks. He is a real decent guy and was someone I really liked to talk with. I wish with everything I have that he makes a speedy recovery and is back in action soon. Sincerest wishes Mattaus. Scott

Sunday afternoon update.. I spoke with Matt again sometime around noon or one PM.. He said that the surgery is scheduled for Tuesday with it possibly on Monday if other Surgeries go quickly and they can get him in.

Matt is hoping to be home next weekend,, he said usually 3 days from surgery to discharge from the hospital...

His eyesight is being greatly effected by the tumor.. Matt said he doesn't try to read or watch TV, he can't see well enough right now.. so he's resting and waiting..

That's the latest..
