Keystoker boiler prices for orders placed now

PostBy: majortom6x On: Tue Jul 22, 2008 8:33 am

What are folks being quoted for a Keystoker KA-6? Is $4700 reasonable? Are the prices firm and fixed or has anyone been told that an order placed now may see a price increase upon delivery in Jan/Feb. My local dealer will take an order for a KA-6 but can't give a fixed price. He says Keystoker says boilers/stoves may see an increase in price by Jan 09 if steel prices go up and that will be passed on to current orders. He did not have a current price chart but said the KA-6sold for $4500 in 07 and thinks about $4700 now. Will cancel order and refund money if in Jan there is a price increase that I am not happy with.

Seems like a mad rush to get Keystoker boilers. Does anyone believe this demand will taper off in the spring and that the lead time in April 09 will drop back to a few months? My thinking is that if I order now I will miss the 08-09 hating season. If I wait till April 09 I will see if rice coal demand causes a shortage and prices go up in my area , Massachusetts.

Sounds reasonable to me, I'd go for it especially since he'll refund your money. Chances are any increase will not be that drastic. It's a mad rush for any boiler, the manufacturers that do make them don't make a large quantity of them.

If heating oil and diesel hit $5-$6/gallon, you won't be able to buy a coal burning appliance with less than 9-10 months wait.. I'd get on the list..
Considering the reasonable price the Ka6 is for the BTU output,, even a price of $5500 is reasonable.. there is no other boiler at the same BTu output for less than $7500.

$4700 sounds like a good price to me for your location. I put a down payment over a month ago and I am super happy I did. IMHO I think the KA-6 is the best boiler in the $5000 price range for it's size. And Keystoker seems like a solid company, they been in business over 60 years.

What other manufacture can you call and the president/owner answer the phone?

Keystoker is putting the finishing touches on their expansion. They hired more welders and will be able to build and put out almost three times the boilers and stoves than they were 6 months ago. :dancing: They said that if you order one today, you would get it in December. That's not bad considering the amount of orders they have had in the past 3 months. I paid $4,850 + tax for a KA-6. I ordered it on June 3. Should get it sometime in September. :D

BYE BYE OIL!!!!

My k6 is on order for 4400. That price seems fair. A junk car is now worth 400.00. Steel is 350.00/ton some say its going to 500.00/ton. Just dont wish in a year or two that you should have bought it now. Is everyone paying the tax on these boilers? Brian

If they only raised the price by $200 for 08, another increase is in the works for sure. I'm in the steel business and I know that steel has about doubled in 08 (or up about $.30 per pound for your basic grade.) So take the weight of the boiler, add 15-20% for scrap, and multiply it times $.30 and that would roughly be your steel increase. And of course this does not include any other cost increases but you can bet every other cost that goes into that boiler has gone up too. Not to mention a 6 month backlog tends to make ones "price increase" finger trigger twitch. :D

Mitch

P.S. And steel is still going up, just not as fast. Hope the greedy bastards hit the wall as it appears oil has.
