Do circulator pumps allow flow when turned off?

Do circulator pumps like a taco 007 act like flow checks when they are turned off, in either or both directions? I'm still pondering the plumbing of my remote boiler. Thank you

If I am following your question correctly, I know pumps like my Grundfos medium head stainless steel allow water under pressure to flow in either direction when it is turned off.

Yes, gravity flow will occur. You need a weighted flow check on the pumps supply side and either a drop down piping loop or swing check on the return.

Thank you for the replies. I didn't know about weighted and swing flow checks and its nice to know about the circ pumps with the flow check built right in. I'm ordering at least one of the commonly mentioned books tonight. This is a little more complex than I originally thought. Thanks
