That is spot on.
If the Democrats put forward a candidate who was strong on US defense,
like JFK for example, then I could see the *possibility* of voting Democrat, if we could get a Democrat who would keep his/her nose out of our lives, and let us cling to our guns and religion in peace. If the Republicans put up Reagan again, I would vote Reagan.

(hint: I am an escapee from soviet controlled eastern europe. If Reagan had been around earlier, my family could have just walked out freely. Hundreds of people were shot or blown up trying to escape. I see native-born Americans talk about "fearing" the US govt. This makes me laugh. These people do not have the slightest idea of what "fear" of your govt. is. )

To be honest with you I really didn't have time to read the article & my post was obviously a joke. As far as worrying about my patriotism, I wouldn't worry about it if I were you & questioning someone's patriotism is what a desperate person does when they really have nothing good to offer for themselves.

I know Greg & I wasn't intending my post to be anything but humorous, as I think you understand.

Having said that, my problem with trying to digest your recommendation (to keep repeating your phrase) is that it's just so darn difficult to tell them apart! :lol: :devil:

I don't like Obama and won't vote Dem. And I am not sure I like McCain. But the part about McCain and his hand on the button is exactly what those mentioned leaders & countries want. They want to die in the name of Allah. That's what it's all about. Don't you get it??? That article is a old news. We can't win by using power & strength. We need to win by being smarter then the opposition and protecting what we need to stay smart and one step ahead. And until this country becomes more self-sufficient, we ain't winning....

Wow! I have heard several of Thomas Sowell's articles repeated on the radio. I personally think mc Cain should choose him as a VP.

Well, it is a tough call. I do not believe that John " MCNasty" McCain is anything like Bush. Really quite different animals.
I believe that McCain if elected will be a 1 termer, a fix it guy. Actually who ever the next President is will be a 1 termer.
The problems we face are huge, and the solutions are bound to piss off half the country. I believe McCain has the Cajones
to do what needs to be done, assuming he has the right people around him. Can he get elected? Sure he can.
If you had asked me a year ago if a Republican had a shot, I would have said NO WAY. Well, what a difference a year
makes.
If Obama can get Hillary to run with him, he owns it. With out her, McCain has a shot. Love her or hate her, you can
trust her to be .......her. If Obama gets it and runs the country like his campaign, we will be O.K.
At this point, I do not really care what party gets it, I just want COMPETENT leadership. We can not afford another
4 years of shortsighted, incompetent government.
The irony of all the 12 years of anti Clinton, Rove divide and piss on politics is that it made Obama possible. 12 years
of Republican hate machine make Obama sound soothing and nice, trust worthy even. More so than if the past 8-12
years had seen CIVIL discourse instead of F You and your mother politics. We reap what we sow.....God Bless America!

We do not want "change for the sake of change", we (Obama supporters) desperately need change because our economy is in the worst condition since the Great Depression, we are embroiled in two wars that have no end in sight & that we can no longer afford to sustain, we can't fuel our cars, heat our homes, afford health care, pay for food & so many other problems that I don't have time to reduce them to writing!

Yes we can! By adapting and over-coming you can do whatever you want.

Example...Due to smart budgetting and saving I just returned a couple weeks ago from a road tripping vacation with my family in our Trailblazer (21mpg). We started saving back in February because we planned on seeing friends in Ohio and Indiana via the roller coaster capitol of the world in Sandusky, Ohio. Slightly less than 2000 miles.

Just put 150 gallons of heating oil in the tank...that hurt but it will last a while

Now, I am buying supplies to put in steps on the side of the house going to my back deck...pavers, stone, sand, retaining wall block, caps, etc

Kids just finished a 2 week music camp at $300 each...(we save for that every year...they haven't missed yet)

I have pushed off my crown because my tooth hasn't cracked yet...taking a chance and staying away from hard foods

I have pushed off extending my deck which I would really like to do but can live with the size it is right now so it went to the bottom of the priority list. (shift un-needed things down )

If I had a chance to go see the Eagles....I'd push something else down on the priority list so I could spoil myself a little...sort of like when I took the family to see Jeff Dunham earlier this year.

If I decide to spoil myself or the family, I make sure I budget for it....keep the plastic for dire emergencies. Use Discover and payoff at the end of the month...it pays to use Discover....

Planning and budgetting has kept my bills down for a very very long time. Does it hurt?? Yup...sure does. There is a long list of things I want...but none of those things I really need....hopefully someday....save budget save!!!
