Thanks Freddy and Adam. It was fun and rewarding. I'm doing the first burn outside to cure the paint before bringing it inside. :)

"HOUSTON - WE HAVE LIFT OFF" :D :dancing: :dancing: :dancing:

I used a paper bag coal starter and a cut up coffee can shaped in a U to start the fire. It has been burning for 1 1/2 hrs so far. Man, is it pumping out heat!!!!!!!!!!!! And it's not even full bore yet!!!!!!!!!!

This stove is awesome! I'm in love. LOL I can't smell the paint curing so it probably would have been OK to have the first burn inside. Right now I'm working on adjusting the max. feed rate.So there won't be burning coals falling of the grate. :dancing: :dancing: :dancing:

Looks great! Little to warm here for firing up a coal stove, but the with amazing power of the internet one can still see one in action. :)

Why does the window look frosted? Is it just the picture or is it the glass?

Adam, It's the glass. From the outside it looks white-ish with a lot of crackling. From the inside it is brown. The crackling doesn't seem to be a problem. At least so far.

Time to shut her down. Skies are starting to darken up out there. It will have to cool before I can tarp it back over before the rain starts. :(

You know Linc it's one thing to be teased by others but teasing yourself is a whole other story.

You're right. To make matters worse 1/2 hr after shutting it down, the skies cleared and the sun came back out.

I can't believe how much heat that stove was pumping out. I don't think there will be any problem heating my little house. :D

Yesterday my brother was over for a cookout and I enlisted his help in getting the stove into the house. :D I had to totally disassemble the stove to get it in the front door. No mishaps, thankfully.Took another 10 mins to put it back together. Another 1/2hr to position the stove and hook up the stove pipe.

VIOLA!!!!!!!!!!!! It is done. :dancing: :dancing: :dancing: :punk:

Sorry about the poor pic quality but poor lighting and a cheap camera can only do so much.

Looks great, Linc. That baby can put out some heat!

What did you end up doing with the window?

Nice job Linc! :D

Be careful the stove is going to dry out all those books, check the heat levels once you get up to a full burn and just keep an eye on things. ;)

Thanks John, I couldn't get it cleaned up so I just installed it. I'll get a replacement for it one of these days. Then I'll start with a clean slate.LOL. Then I'll use the carnuba like you suggested. It's not that important to see the fire,as long as the glow will be there.

It is more important to start getting in coal for this coming season with the stove up and running.Once the coal is in then I'll see about a new glass.

Thanks Matt, I'm not too concerned about the books. The heat radiating off the sides of this stove are quite a bit lower than the wood stove it is replacing. They were fine during that time. It may not look it but there is 30" of clearance between the book case and the stove.

The code enforcement officer will be here Wednesday to do the inspection. Then I can load up the hopper and fire her up. :D

Thanks George. :D You can swing by any time. Did you get down to Townley coal yesterday afternoon? I got there at 8:05 AM and Spike was already busy with potential stove customers and others waiting for him. People are really running scared. I can't say that I blame them. I would be too if I already hadn't already been using alternative heating.

Couple of nice priced stoves were just listed on the Ithaca Craigslist . A Keystoker gravity fed in De Ruyter($350)and a Harman MKIII ($600)in Ithaca also "nut" and pea coal for $3./bag.

Code enforcement officer is coming by this afternoon for the inspect. I'm getting anxious. LOL. After he gives his OK then I'll have to call my insurance agent for her to come and take her pictures and measurements. Aaaarrrggg. What a hassle but it will be worth it. :D
