I just received a call from Keystoker and my boiler is ready to be picked up. I was originally told to expect it around the end of August, so it's a good thing that it's ready early. I'll be heading out there next weekend to pick'er up. The tricky part will be getting into my basement, but I have some ideas and it should be easy.

It's all starting to work out and I'm looking forward to a warm winter. :D

Many thanks to this forum and all the posters for helping me out.

I would have gone this saturday to pick it up, but instead, I'll be down in Virgina for a family reunion till next Tuesday. When they called me and I told the guy on the phone that I wasn't expecting a call till the end of August he said "Well, we can sell it to someone else and you can get back in line". LOL!

Congrats man! Hopefully I get mine in about 6 weeks! Don't be shy and post some pics of the install. That would be greatly appreciated. :D

When did you order you boiler? I ordered mine in the beginning of June and was told 10-12 weeks so I was figuring on the middle to end of August. I called Keystoker yesterday and they said it is not scheduled to be done until mid October and to call back in the middle of Sept to get an update. Guess I shouldn't have ripped out my old oil boiler just yet. I know they are swamped but if they tell you 10-12 weeks it shouldn't take 18.

Friday June 6th at 1pm. I know this because I posted here just minutes after I called them up. I was told 10-12 weeks too and it was done in about 8.

Did you call them direct or go thru a dealer?

I ordered direct. Also a KA6 but the duel fuel. I may give them a call back.

Perhaps the duel fuel is causing the hold up?

Well maybe but I find it hard to believe that they can't get a Beckett oil gun. Probably a surplus of them this year. I just called but the sale guy was on lunch so I will call back in a while and post what he has to say. If its middle of September that is OK but I am going to try and do the plumbing myself and I don't want to be hurried by cold weather in October. I do have a wood buring insert upstairs so I should be fine until November.

I just checked and mine was ordered June 4th. I have an email from Keystoker on the 5th with a scanned copy of the manual I requested so I know it was the 4th. Anyway, I just called Keystoker and the impression I got was they were taking so many orders so quickly that it was hard for them to even determine lead times. Of course that does not explain why you ordered yours on the 5th and already have it installed. I was told I definitely won't have a boiler by the end of August but I told them I would be satisfied if I get it by the middle of September. They said they would do their best. They are nice people to deal with.

That doesn't make sense at all. We can only hope that you get yours by the middle of September and all goes well.

They are really nice people and I thanked everyone that I met at the factory several times before I left.

Congrats!!! It sounds like you got yours fast. I ordered my Keystoker DV KA-6 on May 22nd and it arrived August 1st. I was on vacation so I didn't pick it up until August 11th. Now I'm working on getting the boiler casting in the house. 925 #'s is a little heavy for myself to lift and carry in. I can get it out of my trailer using my tractor, but the tractor won't fit through the basement doors to carry it into the basement. Any suggestions??? I have several ideas such as using furniture dollies and boards to get it up the one step into the mud room and then up one more onto the basement floor. How does everyone else move the casting???

Mike

Sounds like you have it easy. I have to take mine, once I get it, down about 12 steps through the bilco door. My plan as of now is to wrap a chain around it and a heavy duty dolly and chain it to my truck and slowly back it down. Probably on some plywood on the steps. In your case I think most people just use pipes under the boiler and roll it in place. Not sure about the one step. If you can find a place that sells large gun safes you may be able to rent an electric dolly. Safes can weigh as much as boilers. I saw 1 that would roll up and down steps with the electric motor. It had a track on the sides for the steps.
