Can anyone answer me can I use a Honeywell 4006A or 4006 B aquastat to control my efm 520 for an outfire?
I have one of each in stock and wonder if it will do the same as a 6006 a ?
I had one outfire in the spring when we were away for the weekend and had to shovel a whole barel of unburnt coal out of boiler, not fun
thanks for any technical advice
Ted

A "B" aquastat will open contacts on a temperature drop, which means it should work. But maybe there are necessary components lacking in the 4006 and that might be why the 6006 is recommended. I'd have to check on it. I use a "B" aquastat to shut off my circulator, but it's strictly a low voltage instrument and another relay is required.

stokerman thanks for the input , the 4006B is a line voltage aquastat its temp range is 100 to 240 and it makes on temperature rise I don't think my unit ran down that low in temp over winter but am unsure if 100 degrees is low enough if just running dhwater?

If you set your 8124/7224A aquastat to 140 on the low side, I don't think you'll go below 120 by using hot water. Have you ever tested to see how low it will drop with heavy use of hot water? Find out and then set the outfire control to 5 degrees below that. Or just set it for 20 degrees below the low limit setting of the 8124/7224.

You can always change the setting if you need to. Be sure to confirm that the setting on your outfire aquastat is matching your desired cut out temperature.

You can use the 4006B for an outfire control. It requires a well, where the 6006C is a strap-on aquastat. You can also use the 6006A with a well.

stokerman thanks for the input I am just looking things over and planning what I have to get accomplished before heating season, I have a well in front of boiler with nothing in it so my 4006 should work just fine, allso have a couple of leaks to take care of and will be ready for a nother heating season, I will check temperatures and such when things are lit off in a couple months..
thanks
