Need HELP with NewYorker WC-90 Baffle Plate

HI, I have a used unit with no baffle plate and need to know the dims. This plate sits in the combustion chamber above the fire and below the 6" exhaust port. I can't get anyone from NewYorker to help me get a new one so I will need to have one cut from 1/4 plate steel. Is it possible for someoneto measure your plate and sen me the dims??? I would really appreciate it.

Hi Wannabe,, you may be the only owner of your model of New Yorker on the forum.. can you find a dealer nearby where you could take some measurements?? or maybe fabricate the baffle plate from drawings in your owners manual???

Hi Greg, I tried with New Yorker but they only sell wholesale. They gave me the name of the MA Sales Rep and he gave mw the name of a dealer. Called the dealer and they say they never carried the product. Have a copy of the manual and it shows the plate but I am concerned if I guess at the clearance from plate to top of burn chamber I might screw up the draft. Anyway I was hopeing soemone could help. I know at least one Forum member had ordered the same model but I was unsure if he received it yet. I sent him a msg at his PM. This is a great forum and hav helped me so much. Thanks, Steve

wannab Look inside where the baffel plate goes there should be either a tab or hook on either side where the pate sits on measure between the two that will be your length Most baffel plates in boilers are 7.5 to 8 " wide front to back Get your length between the tabs or hooks use it for your length Then Make it 8 " wide front to back 1/4 steel will work for awhile
but baffel plates are made out of cast iron Cast will hold up to the heat better then steel will get 2 made then you will
have a extra when you need it even cast iron will warp if you overfire the boiler just watch your temps When you

measure between the tabs take it on the inside of the tabs closest to the sides of the boiler so you have a tite fit but not to tite leve a little room so you can take it in & out easies Did you try to contact all of the companies links That are on New Yorker web site See if any of them will give you the correct size Plate even if 8" is to big for your clearance you can always cut it down you really only need a few inches for clearance from top of the plate to top of the boiler for draft over
the fire the less draft the longer the burn will be The more draft the faster the burn will be aslong as your Chimney draft is .04 to .05 you will be fine anyway good luck Hope this helps

The cutaway drawing shows it about 2" or 3" from the top of the fire chamber. The area of the opening between the baffle and the top of the firebox should equal more than the area of the exhaust port at the stovepipe. That baffle helps reduce fly ash in the stovepipe. I don't know why they didn't make it with a bypass baffle instead, it would increase efficiency and reduce smoke to the room when reloading.

Thanks for all the help, got the dims and its 1/4 inch plate steel. So I am having a plate fab'd up. Should have this puppy installed and burning by end of Sept.
