How Long do we have?

Isn't America a land of immigrants. Didn't most of us come from Europe and then wiped out the Native Americas who lived here for thousands of years. I'm not saying we should grant citizenship to 20 million illegal aliens but I don't think it would be the downfall of America either. We don't live in a true Democracy but a Republic. In a Republic the average joe is represented by those who are smarter and know better. Look at Gearge Bush as a prime example. In a true democracy Al Gore would be our president. I don't think you have to worry about 20 million votes because the delegates can do as they please.

And in general, republicans are hardly ever working, home and land stealers who know how to take lots of things, and don't work, so your re-write is right on. in reality a republican texas neighborhood would have collectively started a country club and employed many illegal aliens, crushing the economic well being of the town.

Just re-writting my posts is a very clever way to reply,, you obviously are a genius!.

Very true!

Actually Greg & I have a very friendly relationship but I am just trying to educate him away from his horribly, misguided political views!

Yes, America is a land of immigrants,, but not FREE-LOADING immigrants.. the immigrants that built this country came to WORK, and build their future and a future for their children,, NOT to FreeLOad off the government and existing taxpayers..

How can you say that giving a free ride to 20 million free loaders, and their children would NOT be te downfall of America?? OK, YOU pay for them,, I'll take the tax break, thank you very much.

If you strongly believe in a direct popular vote, then try electing a polititian that will push it through Congress, good luck.

Dick, misquoting and changing quotes is NOT funny, it is infantile... Please, if you don't have anything intelligent to reply, don't reply.. I could spend all my time mutilating quotes by you.. but I won't..

If your only response is to mutilate my replies and then falsly enclose them in quotes, then obviously you don't have anything to contribute and the discussion is over.

Devil 's socialst-demcratic comments are like a gasseous discarge from a sewer bubbling up through 'my' water,, the only way Devils comments could be compared to oil on my waters would be if the oil were ignited,,
Between the sewer gas bubbling up from below and the oil on top on fire, Devils comments turn 'my waters' into an equivalent of Hell.. which is what democrats are go good at, destroying our country and turning it into a socialist state where the hard working support the lazy who are looking for a handout.

Just go to the grocery store in any sizable city on the 1st of the month when the "free food card" is replenished. You'll see all the lazy freeloaders lined up at the registers with 1 or 2 carts full. Strange thing is they all have nice clothes, cell phones, and lots of "bling".

Life is good in the USA!

Sorry to see that a little good natured kidding can't be taken in the light vein that it was intended Greg. Neither of us will be able to change a thing in this country through our "Off Topic" political opinion posts on an Anthracite Coal discussion forum in any case, so I suggest that you search for that sense of humor you obviously lost, put things back in perspective, stop being so serious all the time & realize that life is too short for this crap!
In the mean time, I will keep any replies to you in a strictly serious tone, so as not to upset you further.

As Richard stated above Banning is not permitted for opinions.. Banning is just for flagrant violation of forum rules.. I've NEVER considered banning anyone for disagreeing with me.. I just walk away [eventually].

However I will admit that with the last several weeks of miserable weather along the East Coast causing day after day of canceled flights, significantly delayed departures.. the frayed nerves, short tempers, and self important passengers [do you know WHO I am?]. That yes my fuse is short right now,, and I have yet another week to go before I get a week off and a breather....

The good news is that I'm finally getting my head 'above water' on the truck-repair jobs lined up outside my shop, and I hired someone to help with the yard work and building maintenance on the farm buildings.. Every penny I earn in the shop goes out as wages, but I guess that is the way it works.. at least out here in God's country, where people work.. If I lived near the big cities I'd never hire someone for the wages I offer, they'd rather stay on welfare.

Greg: What line of work are you in? I first thought pilot and then mechanic. I've noticed you haven't been posting as much the last few weeks. Sorry to hear that things are stressful. I use to be in my own business and it was a lot to manage. I live about 40 miles from New York City and I don't know anyone who is on welfare but I'm sure there is a lot. When Guliani was mayor he implimented work-fare. Here is a link that details how it all worked. But basically you had to work to get your check. Some jobs were lost that wouuld have been filled by civil service workers. I'm not saying that is good or bad. Here is the link: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.h ... A96E958260

There will always be less fortunate people in our society. It's too bad that many people take advantage of the "system" and ruined it for those who are going through hard luck times and need a little assistance to get back on their feet. Welfare was never meant to be a way of life. I'm not sure of limits or qualifications to get benefits but it sure is an interesting topic.

At the risk of further pissing Greg off, I'd like to answer that question. (Greg is probably off flying) When you return Greg, please feel free to correct anything I may get wrong here & let me know if you think I am out of line by answering trader's question:
Greg is a senior pilot with Jet Blue Airlines & actually a very nice person. He is one of the top experts on this site in regards to the more technical aspects of heating with coal & with coal furnaces/boilers, chimneys, ventilation etc & will usually go way out of his way to respond to anyone's questions or problems. I have always counted Greg as a friend here & can only hope that our 180* political differences or that my recent, good natured :poke: of him hasn't changed that & turned him into a Kamikaze pilot!
