I installed pusher block into the feeder assy.
set it for max feed and applied power.
I do not have the full range of the pusher block.
see photos below.
Does this look right?
should I have full range?
Thanks for your help

I believe this has come up before.. the holes are rather arbitrary,, just for reference rather than an actual scale that the pusher travels the full length of.
Someone with a similar boiler [coalkirk?] will soon give you a more specific answer.. but I think you are allright.

ditto to what Greg said. The gentleman who bought my Harman Magnum (same stoker as the VF3k I believe) asked the same question. I said the dots didn't mean much to me. They were just a reference.
When he looked inside at the actual travel of the push block, he saw that there was 100% travel.
in summary, don't worry, that's normal.
On a side note: If I had the Magnum's pusher block even close to full travel there were all sorts of red coal dumping off the end of the grate. I don't think you will be even close to needing the full travel.

Syncmaster,
That looks normal. I had a problem recently where mine wouldn't travel nearly that far and it turned out the fork had gotten bent open, probably from some obstruction in the chute. At that amount of travel, you will be loading alot of coal. Unless you need to run the boiler balls to the wall, you will probably end up with a more narrow adjustment.

OK coalkirk thanks for your input.
I measured the pusher block full back to full foward and the stroke is 1/2 inch.
are you saying I will probly need it set to 1/4 inch per stroke?

Well I don't know what your demand will be so it's not possible for to say for sure. It will become obvious once you are up and running. You want about 1" of dead ash at the end of your grate. No live coal into the ash pan. You will strike a balance between keeping your water temp where you want it, not dumping live coal or over shooting your setpoint. Lot's of factors come into play such as your sq. footage, heat loss (insulation levels, window quality) are you doing DHW also, etc. Once you are up and running, we'll get you dialed in.
ya know? Just to be sure. Did you thread the pusher block adjust arm all the way in?
Bulldogr6 bought mine off of me. Perhaps he can look at those pics and see if the pusher block is traveling as far as his.
It never hurts to look!
