Well, I just got out from under the house about an hour ago. A bin is feasable, but I have to do some digging. Thank goodness the concrete isn't that thick where I need to dig. Lots of dirt though.....4 ft 3" of it + 1/2" concrete. When I make my bin, I will have to haul coal from the outside bin I have to make, to the inside bin. Don't mind the work though, unless I make a coal.... ..A COAL CONVEYOR. Cool, just thought of an Idea to get coal from one side to the other . Or I can make a chute from where the vent is down to where the bin would go...that would work too.
The current gas boiler is located towards the back of the house. Damn gas boiler..why don't you just go away .
Hey Mozz, What paint is on your boiler? What pipe was that running from the bin (under the auger)? A return line?

The only local high temp paint I could find (i only went to 2 stores, ace hardware and lowes) was black. 1 quart will do your 260. The paint is very watery like. Some people here have found silver and thats what I would have used also. Here is a picture before it was taken out of service for the move. The shaft running under the auger is the agitator. It is an option, according to the manual, for those who have problems with the coal not feeding right. It has a gear on one end and on the bin end, it has a small auger like end, about 6" long. It helps break up any jams I guess and frees it up so it can get over to the main auger and tube.

Most of the drawings I have found on google show it 2" below the water line, or some say 2" below the bottom of the sight glass. There is one on my current 1968 oil boiler but it is rigged up, crossed threads and all, and the close nipple is 12"! Here is my question, not to hijack your thread but, I want to put the boiler directly under the main header, 2" straight pipe vertical, and the "t" will be vertical, coming out of the "t" to the equalizer, does that sound ok?EasySteaminBT wrote:Here is the drawing Mozz, hope this helps.

Mozz,
I will draw something up for you for your two boilers, give me some time. If you are all cross threaded it may be time to install some new pipe. I do recommend cut out vavles of the gate type. You can even do two valve protection (same would go for the returns for maintenace purposes). Or an OS&Y would work also. Remember, the Axeman and your oil boiler water levels must be equal. I see you have your gage glass marked at 3/4, you would need to do the same for your Axeman. You may have to raise your Axeman up.
I have to run for now, I will have more info for you tomorrow.

This oil boiler is going to the scrap yard, coal only. The main is dripped 3 ft from the header. I'm not at that part of the install yet, sold my remaining oil for 2.50/gal today, have to install the elec. water heater first, then rip out the oil, remaining tank and piping, then set AA up on the pad and start the install.
