Mark III grate removal?

my dealer said they just lift up out after the stone is removed but i cant get mine out. do i need to take the shaker handle off or something? there are 2 bolts on the end of the shaker (lower part where it goes into stove)

lift up on the right side first and the will come right out. if they are warped bad you mint have to get under them with a bar to push them up.

yeah they are bent pretty bad. thanks, i just didnt want to mees up the handle part by prying on the wrong spot.

How hard would it be to cut the grates out with a hack saw or hacksaw blade on recip or sabre saw? (they're junk anyway)

If it's the same as a mark II, start pulling up at the right side of the grates. They will disengage from the shaker "rack".

The grates sit in cast channels - those channels are also removable. My grates/channels were packed in with ash from the sides, almost like cement. Once most of it was cleared out the grates could move side to side and was able to work them out. Spent the better part of an hour lightly prying up/down to loosen them, another hour chipping out packed in ash from the channels and the stove body where they sit.

got them out. the last one was a real bitch to get out but i got it. $89 each for new ones at my local place.
