H,

I have decided on a hand fired boiler. It will be an add on to my existing warm air oil furnace. I definitely want a hand fired as opposed to the stokers. I will need to heat approx 3000 square feet. Any recomendations out there as to manufacturers or models?

Thanks

How come you're not looking at a hot air furnace? Much cheaper.

I just bought an Energy King 480EK wood/coal, hand feed hot air furnace. Made very well and consturction is solid. I am in the process of hooking it up to my existing hot air oil furnace. I will be heating 2800 sqft. http://www.energyking.com/wood-coal_furnaces.htm.

I'm looking for a boiler because I have a lined chimney in the garage that I can use, but it goes through about 50' of unheated space, so I figured the thermopex would retain more heat than if I tried to push the warm air through duct. I did find an old Chappee boiler in great shape for $200. I am in the process of hooking it up.

Thanks,

It doesn't get any better than that, good score. :)
