Clear Choice In November-An Opinion

Clear Choice In November-An Opinion

PostBy: Devil505 On: Fri Aug 22, 2008 1:03 pm

Without doubt, this election year presents the clearest choice we voters have had in many years.I'll base these opinions on a pretty good assumption that, while Democrats will gain some seats in both the House & Senate this year, it is highly improbable that they will gain enough Senate seats necessary to override a Presidential veto . (60 votes in the Senate)
Therefore, a vote for Senator McCain will in truth, be a "Four Year Sentence" to more GW Bush thinking & policies & a vote to keep things exactly as they are, with gridlock in Washington DC & nothing getting done or changing. We will continue to have an ill tempered, out of touch, rich man in the White House who will continue to veto any bills that would help the middle class but not favor big oil, & that veto would still be upheld by the few Republicans left in the Senate.
A vote for McCain: will ensure that status quo for our economy, greater enrichment of the super rich , continued slipping of the the middles class into poverty, a Supreme Court override of Row vs Wade & more war, with no end in sight.
Those who are considering voting for McCain, thinking they would like to see a divided government where no one party has all the power are just kidding themselves. You would be voting for what amounts to continued total Republican control of our government.
If you have gotten rich under GW Bush & this is what you want, then you should definitely vote for John McCain, otherwise....don't!

I wouldn't want to see either Dems or Reps have full power. That's like suicide.

More DNC drivel..

Hey Devil, since you are so sure that a McCain presidency will be identical to the Bush presidency,, why don't you put your 'Great Carnak' turban on and predict the next winning lottery numbers.. win it and then you can give it all to your savior.. Obammamma.

Your constant stating that a McCain presidency will be identical to Bush is tiresome.. you have NO WAY to predict ANYTHING that the next president will do.. including Obammamamma.

Predictions are BS.. you might as well spend your efforts on the Lottery..

What a politician says is just to get votes.. don't be duped by their rhetoric.. but wait.. it's too late.. you are completely burried in the huge pile of BS that Obammaamma puts out.. I do hope you have a snorkel to breath through??

A vote for McCain will allow the Republicans to keep a veto proof control of our entire government, just like they have now,. Same gridlock!

I take the man at his word Greg & McCain says he will be Bush's third term.......Just not in so many words because Bush is such a hated man in this country.

(BTW....I'm trying to set my TIVO to record GW Bush speaking at the Repub convention in a few weeks........He'll be on Monday morning, between 2:47AM-2:53AM.....Right?)

I know I will be the target of many comments, but, quite frankly, Ron Paul is the only candidate that understands what the real issues are and how to go about solving them, IMHO. Too bad his positions are not better understood. I would strongly urge everyone to read his book, "The Revolution."

In any event, America needs to wake up and demand desperately needed changes in the way our Government does its business.

I agree with you Manny...it is my honest opinion the big problem with Ron is that he speaks common sense and naturally that does not work in Washington D.C.

Bugsy:

I agree with you 100%. Part of the problem is that there are no painless solutions, and the solutions set forth by Ron Paul, while in the best interests of the American people long-term, are not popular because they require short-term sacrifices by many, and, therefore, are not conducive to getting elected, never mind re-elected. It's time for the American people to sacrifice short term gratifications for long-term benefits. Ron Paul has such a plan. JMO.

I've stayed away from the political forums for quite awhile but I've got to wade in on this one. Anyone who thinks Obama is going to be much different than any of the other clowns we have had in the past, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn I want to sell you. Also, if you think McCain is another GWB, I'll sell you the toll booths to got with it. Neither man is who we need. We need someone who speaks the truth to the Amercian public and that is that we are in deep *censored* and will need to sacrifice to get out of it. None of them have the balls to tell us that. We need a WWII type mentallity and effort in this country to solve our energy crisis. We're mostly too fat and lazy, too ill-informed and are only out for ourselves. (not anyone on this forum of course.)
I sent this link to my friend Devil the other day and I hope he watched it. It's a Bill Moyers interview with ret. Col. Andrew Basevich who is now a college prof. and he makes more sense than anyone I have heard in a long time. I'd urge all to take the time to watch and LISTEN. It's 2 segments about 20 minutes each.
