Does anyone have a setup to allow filling a hopper on a stoker located in a basement from a gravity feed from an outside coal bin? What angle does rice or pea coal need to move down a chute? And if this is not advisable and I purchase an auger does anyone have advice on coal bin design for augers? Finally, is there a lot of coal dust from a delivery? I there a way to contain the dust? Thanks in advance for you time!

Check out the topic above titled "Coal Bin Pics." Page 16 near the bottom shows a neat system to get coal from the garage to the basement.

Use the search function on this site. There is a ton of info located here. A lot of your questions are answered .

You need at least a 40 degree angle but I'd go with 45 to be safe. PVC will work good if you put a hole in the bottom of the bin.

You shouldn't get much dust during delivery if any as the coal should at least be damp. Having said that even if the coal is dry it's not that big an issue outside. You don't want to get dry coal delivered into your basement though.

My delivery had over a thousand pounds of water added. It is still draining and puddling and there is no dust to be seen.

Go with any size other than rice. Rice is hard to come by.
