I am new to coal and am installing a Keystoker KAA-2 boiler with direct vent. Keystoker gave me a thimble that consists of a 6" single wall pipe, 4" S.S. pipe, 6"x4" reducer and a Metal plate with perforated metal ,for the outside.I am going thru a 2x6 framed wall (plaster inside, vinyl outside). Will this be suitable and safe? Any other ideas? What can I expect for a stack temp? These forums are very helpful and I hope I can help sometime.

Sounds about right, the 1" air gap should keep things rather cool. That is the way most direct vents vent thru the wall.

The exhaust temps are only around 2-300 degrees.

Not sure what exhaust cap you have?? if just the basic round with a top hat, you may want to put a shield around the back of it to keep the exhaust fumes away from your siding as to discolor it, which it will do.
