Severstal [of Russia]will buy P.B.S. Coals [western Pa.] for 1.3 billion dollars. The deal is the second U.S. acquisition in 10 days and the 13th by a Russian Conpany in 12 months. Severstal also purchased the former Ford Motor Company steel plant in Dearborn Michigan for 285 million. This year they also purchased Bethlehem Steel plant at Sparrows Point Baltimore for 810 million. The way this is going we will be paying to import our own coal to keep warm shortly. Very sad indeed. Mike

Well Mike its a global economy so we better get used to it. The issue I have is I've seen may reports of an uneven playing particularly in China. If a Chinese company wants to come into the U.S. and make investments they can easily but the Chinese puts hundreds of roadblocks for american investment and goods in China. I'd imagine the same is true Russia and many other places in the world.

Hummmm.... The Russians.....Globalism.....
wasnt it just a mere 19 years os so ago that the Berlin Wall came down. Lets not forget who put it there and why.
THE RUSSIANS ARE NOT OUR FRIENDS(Nor the Chinese for that matter)(Greedy politicians signed our futures away by allowing ONE SIDED FREE TRADE) They send we buy. We export they don't buy ours back. Not to mention trying to poison us off one at time with .
In light of this months display of Russia's Good Neighbor Policy(Bomb your small neighbors and occupy their country and flatten their citys ...Not to mention Shut off the natural gas and freeze them out....
It would take lots and lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$ to let me say OK to Russian takeover of US Coal Plant.
But as they say in Political Circles...If You Got The Money........
PS Am I mistaken or didnt the Russians just take over the "foeign interests in the Russian oil production? Give them the money then boot your butt out the door....not that I feel sorry for oil companies but we really a nation of Sheep...bahh bahh

I don't feel the "Soviet" is entirely gone from Russian leadership, the government is rife with former Soviets and KGB agents.
