FYI.... AVG 8.5 free version is out there now. Installing it on an ACER Aspire, right now.

Isn't AVG all paid/subscription, now? I kept getting messages to that end near the end of last year so I uninstalled it and use Comodo's AV along with their firewall.

Thanks, Rich. I guess they buried that in the fine print on me. I prefer having just one program for both and so far Comodo has caught everything that has come my way.

There is a sweet Trojan out that looks almost exactly like the AVG update window - The only dif is the top bar is green instead of blue - or the other way around -- forget...

Anyway you click on it to update - because you not thinking that its all automatic - and it hacks your OS to uselessness, but before you loose complete control is asks for a credit card claiming the AV is no longer free. DON'T DO IT!

I have been using WinPatrol to help catch Registry changes by things like this.

We looking for AVG (and other products as well) I go to http://www.filehippo.com . They don't hide the free versions behind the paid version
