Are Coal Stoves in Short Supply (Fall 2008)?
Is the coal from Penn Keystone? You must have had a good forklift. I had to remove 10 bags per pallet to keep the forklift from tipping?

My Brother has the other 11.5 tons and he ordered a Harman Magnum that is on the same delievery cycle.

IOWAN, I don't know what the market is like in Iowa for used stoves, but here in Maine I have been surprised at how many have been advertised lately. Craigslist is a good source, plus we have a very popular buy-sell weekly here called Uncle Henry's where I have seen them, everything from small hand-feds up to large boilers, some at bargain prices. For example, I just saw a Harman Mk II, only used two seasons, for only $600. So stoves are available, you just need the background and confidence to buy used. The background you can get on this forum. If I had found the forum before I bought my stove, and if I were more of the confident do-it-your-selfer sort, I could have saved a bundle of money by buying used.

I was supposed to get one delivered two weeks ago and could not get a response from the dealer on my Keystoker 90. I called the manufacturer and they said December at the earliest if the dealer had actually ordered it and probably February would be more realistic since they are working on May orders and June & July they were inundated with orders. Bought a Reading Lehigh instead. I hope it was a good choice after searching all of New England for an in stock stove.
I've been waiting for a keystoker I ordered in June , still no stove, heard the rumor that a local dealer had 40 plus in his warehouse, went and visited him , purchased one from him and cancelled my original order, I picked up an alaska brand, will be installed next week, and indeed he did have a warehouse full, If anyone is interested he's located here in wild wonderful west virginia
new to the coal burners, but can't wait to get to get mine installed.

Under $70 a barrel already...ya it went up a bit today, but that won't last. The 10% reduction in demand you're seeing on the liberal news is supposedly more like 18% real numbers. I know I cut my monthly gasoline usage by 50% by riding my motorbike. There are many like me that have done something similar.ken wrote:the OPEC countries are dealing with double high digit inflation. Every thing they purchase comes from imports. The ones raking in the cash on high oil are the royal familys. The people are suffering from high costs. Been going on for awhile. The people are getting upset. So in a way they screwed themselfs. Thats why oil is retreating and the dollar going up in value has helped. Buy the ed of the year it will be $60-$70 for sweet crude. Never see $30 again. People will be happy in the USA to pay $2.50 gal.

I hope you were being sarcastic about "here is a nice guy". I am glad I am not the only one who saw this on Craig's List. As hard as it apparently is for many people to even get the stoves that they have ordered, now comes foolishness like this! Nothing like an individual who takes advantage of others!

There's a guy in Maine who has been advertising (not on Craigslist) new Harman pellet stoves from $3200 to $4000. Is that what they usually go for, or is he trying to clean up in a tight market?

Somebody did the right thing on Craig's List relative to the guy who wanted $200 for providing info to people looking to buy at stove. Thank God, here is the link:
