I have two flues in my home. A 8" basement flue 60" off of the cement floor thru cinder block. Very easy to work with any unit. The second is a 6" flue in the one side on my living area set up to burn a small stove either wood of coal. There is a 2x6 framed decked area for stove placement with the synthetic material used around stoves.
But the flue for this area is a mere 25" off of the deck. This limits which stoves I can use. I believe the po's built this area to seat a Harman Mark I although they had a Mark III in place when I purchased. I picked up a Godin Oval in excellent condition but the outlet of the Godin is almost 32". I need to pipe into 24". No room for elbows. I put myself in a jam buying this stove. But it looks great.
How many inches floor to flue is typical in a living room setting?

hi Cap, Put in a new thimble into the 6" chimney at the height that will work with your new stove. It's not a big job.

Thanks Greg but that would require tearing apart an interior wall with imitation brick on it, chiseling into the block chimney and clay flue and patching it all back together. I might be better off waiting for the right stove to come around.
