Just got it yesterday, 9/6/08. Direct vent setup.
Installed it last night.
Fired it up this morning to burn it off, but after a couple hours it tripped off.
Can anyone tell me why?
Did I just get it too hot, and need to cool it down and try again?
Tom

You possibly have the rheostat on the directvent set too low and it tripped the vacuum switch on the lower right on the back of the stove which is ment to shut the unit down in the event of a blocke flue pipe. I belive there is a reset button on the switch that will need to be pressed if that was the problem. Another possibility is the flue isn't installed correctly which caused the switch to trip. So most likely it is a draft related problem as that is the only safety shut off on an alaska channing stove.

First, make sure you have a CO Detector, so it doesn't build up fumes in the house...

Sounds like a drafting/safety issue. Check your setting, if you don't have a draft gauge to set up the power vent, you should borrow or get one.

Is the direct vent on the stove or mounted outside? Check to make sure you have it piped correctly.

What tripped? The Safety Flue Switch? If so, your venting must be checked.

Well, I guess I just overdid it. While I was trying to smoke off the newness I turned off the circulator blower in an effort to get the cast top hot. Didn't take long to trip it off. Now, running normally for the last couple days; it's been fine.
Thanks,
Tom
