That's good to know about the fan motors. They do have to be oiled and they are mounted in the squirrel cage like most DD fans. There's 2 fans on my hotblast and I think they're 130.00 bucks ea(you have to buy the whole squirrel cage, housing and motor as a unite). To bad you can't buy just the motor.I've been looking into converting mine to a (normal)HAF fan, belt drive type.

The little buckling above the fire brick is most likely from over loading it.When people burn wood in thoes things they tend to overfill the firebox so they can get it to burn through the night or all day. That's why it's stright behind the fire brick, but not above.
Good luck and happy heating :D

Guys,
Going to haul the old girl home tomorrow. and will try to get some pics posted. Can I use the direct link from my Photobucket to post here?
Coaledsweat, Yeah I know about the stainless problem. Fortunately I work in industrial machining and have some thrown out solid carbide drills I have re-sharpened. I chuck them very short leaving only 3/8 inch protruding from my drill chuck in order to prevent them breaking. They do a good job drilling stainless pipe.
Greg, will chase down Manometer and Barometric damper. I have'nt looked on E-bay yet but will do so.
Bigbeam, after the owner showed me how he re-engineered the blower motor location it made perfect sense to me. It's the only way to go. Motor is no longer in the air stream generated by the blower. My basement is dusty no matter how hard I try to control it even with block walls & concrete floor. I need to buy or fabricate a return air filter for it yet.

You should be glad your cellar is dusty, that's EZ to deal with(good filters) If it's the other way, damp or wet that's a lot harder to deal with.
Please post pics of the fan,I'd like to change mine someday.Need ideas.
