Bill, I thought it was funny as I pictured it in my mind. Not because of your misfortune. Glad you didn't get hurt to bad and the house was still standing. :D

A few years ago my volunteer fire department was called to respond mutual aid to a neighboring district for an explosion.

Seems that the homeowner worked at a junkyard and would drain gas tanks and bring the gasoline home to burn in his furnace bop2. One day there was a leak in one of the cans and it caught on fire and exploded, lifting the house off it's foundation and breaking windows on several houses in the neighborhood :hammer: . Luckily, the explosion snuffed out the fire as he had two oil tanks in the cellar full of gasoline that didn't explode.

After the "all clear" was sounded, the fire chief had the homeowner arrested and a hazardous waste company come to remove the fuel.

Someone I know works at BWI airport as a jet engine mechanic. He drains jet fuel from components as he is working on them and saves it in 5 gallon cans. He takes it home and burns it in his oil furnace. When his furnace fires, it makes a BOOM. His wife is convinced the house is going to blow up.

His oil burner needs servicing. New nozzle, electrode cleaning and tip adjustment and new fuel filter. He should also get the specs on the oil and compare it to home heating oil specs. He may need to use a different combustion air percentage with his blended fuel. He is blending it with the home heating oil I hope?

The mechanics, where I worked, were always dragging 5 gallon cans of Jet A out the door. I never heard of any problems. I was under the impression it was very close to kero.
