DF-520 Installation Pictures

This thread is about the best I've seen for professionally installing the L6006A Honeywell aquastat, which is used as an outfire control for the stoker. It is the farthermost right control on the top of the left side panel of the cabinet. Can be seen in the second picture appearing at the start of the thread. Behind the L6006A aquastat is a tapping in the boiler which will accommodate the "well" needed to install the "A" aquastat.

NOTE: This set-up can only be used with a hot water boiler; not a steam boiler.

The alternative is to use the L6006C aquastat, which straps to the outlet pipe at the top of the boiler.

Don't you think the well below that one would be better being that the water level in the boiler does not go that high
the well that he used is for a steam setup If you look in the EFM Manual The water line stops at 46.5 " from the bottom
of the base to the boiler top The over all heigth from the bottom of the base to the top of the boiler is 51 3/8 " meaning
there is 5.5 " of empty space another way to measure is from the top of the boiler down to the top of the water coil
you will see that the water line stops right above the water coil a little over 5.5" to the top water line that is on the coil So that top well will not have the water that far up so the L6006A will not be in the water if you use the one below it

which is 8" below the top one you will be into the water level which also lines up with the well in the front that the Temp Gage goes into The two wells that are on the side that he is using is for the Gage Glass for the steam setup No water at the top one it is above the water coil the second one under it is below the water coil that one should work The info comes from EFM Specifications & Dimensions Form AP-245R-67 It is also is in the AP900-486 form and the EFM service Manual older one which I do not think EFM even prints any more It use to be given to the EFM Service Techs Just thought
I would give you something to look up

What about the Honeywell L6081A Aquastat That is Listed in my 1986 Manual that can be used for outfire it is on page 13 & 14 It says set a 30 degree Differents between You High setpoint and low set point with a 10 Diff.

I am investigating the L6081A aquastat.

I have edited my post to state that the L6006A setup is only for a hot water boiler, which has water completely filling the boiler, as opposed to a steam boiler, which does not.

Guys,

I am getting things together for my EFM 520 install. I want to put an outfire setup like the one shown. I have been looking for an aquastat with the set of NO and NC contacts. The reason being, I could wire the AC for my backup oil boiler into the NO contacts so when the temp dropped it woulld turn off the AC to the stoker and power up the boiler automatically. Anyone know what model aquastat might have such a set of contacts? I have done some searches online but haven't found what I want yet.

The Honeywell L6007A or L6006C both have n.o. and n.c. contacts. Look at the spec sheets carefully to verify before buying. I have looked at a few and found that they all appear to have internal SPST switches. The model differences appear to be which contacts have external tabs to make connections to.

not to high-jack the thread but what is the aquastat model that can do both the outfire and regular aquastat duties in one?

Saves on equipment... But I can't seem to find it in the EFM manual if it is there... I know there were conversations about it online here also. Thanks.

Hi Mark goto page 20 on New Manual It is a Honeywell L6081A Aquastat They have it listed for steam setup I am trying to find out if it can be used on hotwater to if so then you would not need the L8124A with the L6006A The L6081A should take care of both from what I read so far on it you will need a 845 relay with it I am waiting for Chris /stokerman to get back to me on this
