Sounds like Ron Paul's tax plan. :D

"I reject the notion that tax cuts harm the economy. The economy suffers when government takes money from your paycheck that you otherwise would spend, save, or invest. Taxes never create prosperity. Private-sector innovation and productivity are the engines that drive our economy, regardless of what politicians tell us."

Exactly, but McCain's/George Bush's tax cuts will only help rich people & large corporations, as usual.....They will not help the people who really drive the economy....US in the middle class! We need the help, not George Bush, John McCain, Exxon-Mobil & Bill Gates.....Us little guys who can't drive our cars, heat our homes or buy food any more!
If you want to really help the economy, you don't make Bill Gates even richer so he'll spend his money buying real estate in Malaysia.
(I'm satisfied that Ron Paul does not favor making the Bush tax cuts permanent without some major modification)

More Ron Paul:
"President Bush unveiled a very modest tax cut plan last week that calls for the elimination of double taxation on dividends. Democrats immediately attacked the plan using class warfare tactics, clamoring that only the rich will benefit from a dividends tax reduction. This tired argument ignores the millions of middle class American investors who receive dividend checks and presumably don’t consider themselves wealthy. It also ignores the stimulative effect that any form of tax cut has on the economy. When dividends are taxed only once, as corporate income, investment is encouraged and shareholder demand for dividends increases. This in turn encourages companies to increase profits, because it’s hard to pay dividends if you’re not making any money. But these arguments require some analysis, and the left would rather appeal to base emotions and attempt to paint the wealthy as sinister tax dodgers.

As with so many things in politics, the truth is exactly opposite. The so-called rich pay almost all of the income taxes in this country. In fact, the top 1% highest-earning Americans pay a whopping 37% of all individual income taxes collected. The top 10% pay 67%. In other words, 10% of Americans pay two-thirds of the taxes. Half of all taxpayers – those in the bottom 50% of earnings – account for less than 4% of income tax revenues. This means no matter how taxes are cut, it’s nearly impossible for those cuts to primarily benefit lower-earning taxpayers."

If you explore Ron Paul's economic plans, they include much more help for us in the middle class than does the Bush/McCain failed policy of giving all to the rich & letting it "Trickle Down" on us. We have seen what is Trickling Down" on us for the last 8 years!

Tax cuts are great only if the government cuts it's spending to match the income reduction. Why do you think we're 10 trillion in debt? Most people get lost with those big numbers. Equate it to having a 100,000 a year lifestyle with a 40,000 a year income. How long can you support that?

First one I found Stephen....There are tons!

Some REAL differences over Bush/McCain here Stephen:

http://ronpaul2008.typepad.com/ron_paul ... nveil.html

"1. Tax Reform: Reduce the tax burden and eliminate taxes that punish investment and savings, including job-killing corporate taxes."....Ths is fine as long as it is targeted more towards the middle class & helps those beyond Exxon-Mobil like the Bush/McCain handouts do. Ron Paul is not an oil man & I trust his integrity.

"2. Spending Reform: Eliminate wasteful spending. Reduce overseas commitments. Freeze all non-defense, non-entitlement spending at current levels."......How about eliminating the no bid contracts to Haliburton, Why are we spending 10 billion/month in Iraq while the Iraqis are saving billions....In our banks!!...thats kind of wasteful overseas spending that Bush/McCain inflict on us!

"3. Monetary Policy Reform: Expand openness with the Federal Reserve and require the Fed to televise its meetings. Return value to our money."....good ideas

"4. Regulatory Reform: Repeal Sarbanes/Oxley regulations that push companies to seek capital outside of US markets. Stop restricting community banks from fostering local economic growth.".....Keep our money in our country!

Right on!! The Bush/McCain tax cuts & economic "Stay The Course" mentality will do nothing to stop wasteful government spending. McCain will actually increase it!
CHANGE......what change is McCain talking about???....Just more LIES from the "McSame" camp!

Greenspan's point is that Bush/McCain's tax plans mean nothing since McCain promises to keep wasting billions of $$$$ of our tax money on old, failed policies. How is that even Republican any more? Republicans are supposed to stand for smaller, less intrusive government, right? Has anyone seen GW Bush reducing the size of our government or being less intrusive in our lives?...HELL NO~!! (& McCain promises to keep Bush's policies going for the next 4 years!
Ron Paul will try to reverse these trends!

Topic:"Greenspan Says McCain Tax Cuts Bad Idea"

Your write-in candidate Dick:
"I reject the notion that tax cuts harm the economy. The economy suffers when government takes money from your paycheck that you otherwise would spend, save, or invest. Taxes never create prosperity. Private-sector innovation and productivity are the engines that drive our economy, regardless of what politicians tell us. I’m in favor of cutting everybody’s taxes – rich, poor, and otherwise."

You can't cut taxes on people who don't pay taxes. You can redistribute wealth like in BO's plan.

The problem is that Bush/McCain's tax cuts give tremendous handouts to the rich & just a mere token to the middle class. (I suppose cutting my taxes by 5 cents while cutting George Bush's taxes by $50,000.00 can be called giving us all a tax break.....if your intent is to deceive!)
Nobody likes taxes Stephen, & theoretically tax cuts are great....BUT under Bush & McCain, they cynically give their rich private & corporate buddies HUGE tax breaks while the rest of us get chicken feed! (just look at the tax rates McCain proposes)
It's just a big lie & I'm tired of it! THROW THE BUMS OUT!!

You can't just leave defense spending out when the DOD is one of the worst "Wasteful Spenders" in the government with NO BID contracts to Haliburton, Blackwater & the like. The DOD needs some real reforming too.

I agree with Devil505 and Billw:

Any responsible candidate cannot talk about tax cuts without corresponding spending cuts. We cannot grow ourselves out of this massive debt situation that we are in. Only Ron Paul understands or is willing to accept this. The other candidates are talking as though tax cuts will stimulate the economy to grow us into prosperity. This cannot and will not happen without massive spending cuts. Ron Paul is in favor of smaller government and government entitlements which includes less taxation but also less spending in order to maintain a balanced budget.
