Queen of the Susquehanna and our "Guard dog".

The one year we had her set up on top of the beer cooler. It was hilarious because every time my canoing partner would go to grab beer... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

The "Guard Dog" moniker actually stuck from the first weekend I took her out in the woods. We were walking along the road about to head into the woods and some guy from down South and his young son were walking along the other way. After stopping and talking a for a while the little kid says in slow southern drawl "Is that your guard dog?"
I guess it was one of the moments you had to be there and it was funny because of her small size, ironically it was the truth as we found out after a while. You couldn't get within 100 yards of us without her setting off to find out what was up.

She'd could be laying down and she'd be on her feet going in the direction of whatever the sound was unheard to us. My one buddy even tried sneaking up on us on purpose and he only got within 150 feet. We'd usually know someone was coming 3 or 4 minutes before they got there.
She was special dog by all accounts, I know people say that all the time about their pets but if you knew here you'd know what I mean. Even my one buddy who absolutely hated animals didn't mind having her around.... Just to give you one example, if you had a steak and put it on the ground she wouldn't go near it unless you actually gave it to her.
