Just took the plunge and ordered a Koker!

Called a local coal deliverer and he answered, "may I help you?"
Stupidly, I blurted, "i'm so excited, I bought a coal furnace and I need coal delivered"...
he said, "i wouldn't be too excited, ma'am. it is a load of work!"

what a dork. never knew coal could be so exciting....

That is too funny. I can imagine the guy on the other end shaking his head. You should have seen the guy who delivered my 2 tons of Rice and I told him to drop it in the driveway because I was going to wheelbarrel it into the basement. (no window to my bin yet). He asked if I was doing it all myself and when I said yes his face said exactly what was going through his mind. I guess you have to be a little excited to order your coal before the window to the bin is ready. So add me to the dork list too.

My family thinks I've lost it, but they try to be nice. I try not to talk about it to much, sort of like an evil hidden fetish or something :o

That's hysterical.

Put me on the dork list, too. I bring my coal in from a bin that's 50 yards from the house. In five gallon buckets. Can't chute it into the house. I look at it as my winter exercise.

Enjoy the coal - it's worth it and, yes, it is exciting.

Send the Dork Squad after me as well. It is a lot of work, and I sleep very well at night, but all 9 tons of coal now on my property was carried in 5 gallon buckets. Physical activity is something I (and we) can never get enough of. The motivation of keeping my house and myself warm in the winter is an excellent incentive. I also have 16 cords of wood here which was all cut, gathered, split and stacked by hand (chainsaw, wedges, mallet and sledgehammer). I LOVE IT !!! :-)

Shovelling and carrying your own coal warms you once, burning it warms you twice, and hauling ashes out warms you a third time! Never saw an oil/gas furnace do me that favor! :)

Hi my name is Rick and I am a dork also!
I shoveled 7 tons into the basement in august. It took me about 6 hours but I had frequent beverage breaks. Now I am good for 2 years.

congrats on the koker purchase! :D

It's funny, for as much coal as I shovel in the mine, you'd think I'd be sick of it. But when I get coal for the house I really don't mind shoveling it into buckets and bringing 6 tons in!

I have a piece of Lenig buck stuck on the dash of my truck and a nice flat piece of Superior nut sitting here on my desk, guess I'm a coal dork too...Oh yeah-also a piece of stove size "mystery coal" in the window box by the kitchen door.
