Hello All

Will be running a Harman SF-150 in the basement of my new home and some need some advice on getting the heat to the upstairs. The home was a one story ranch but the attic was converted into two small bedrooms and one small bathroom. Will putting registers in the floor be enough with the blower on the stove or should I try and fabricate a heat collector and duct it right to the first floor? My main goal is to totally elimate the oil furnace. The advertised living space of the home is 1175 square feet.

If you can copy the duct that Harman offers for the SF stoves that would do very well.. And install a cold air return duct from the farthest corner of the upstairs to the inlet of the distribution fan on the back of your stove [you do have one, or are getting one right?] You want to create a circulation loop, cool air from upstairs, being pulled into the fan, through the stove's heat exchanger, and up the duct to the living spaces.. this is as close to making a stove into a furnace as you can get.. The stove will still be giving off lots of radiant heat into the basement area.

Look through this forum, you will find lots of threads full of ideas and information about getting your heat from the basement to the living spaces of the house..
