Weather report is calling for a few days of cool raw & rainy weather in the Northeast starting tomorrow night through Friday night, so I'll be starting up the TLC tomorrow night for a few days burn. I'll again try my 1/3 fill coal loading technique again due to the ease of cleaning out for restart with a reduced load. I've been soaking my old, dried out Match Light briquettes in lamp oil (cause I have plenty on hand) since I couldn't get them to light last week. (open bag from last winter)

It was 30 degrees and very damp at my house this morning. I fired up the oil boiler to take the chill off. Depending on the weather I may fire up the coal stove within the next couple weeks.

Still in the mid to high 40s overnight here in the poconos....that's a good thing since I'm 5 weeks away from my stove installation.

You said it brother. I'm about two weeks out for having a heating system. If it gets cold now the only thing I've got is turning on the oven. It's to early in the season to get real cold out but an overnight frost is about due. Hopefully frost will come soon so I can stop cutting the dam grass.

My hotblast doesn't burn well unless you keep it going .If you burn 1 load and turn it down for the night the next morning there's a lot of unburned coal left.
So I'll just burn wood for a while longer .

I too am still burning wood only. It was 48 degrees here in Phoenixville, PA when I woke up this morning. Still not quite cold enough to start the Warm Morning, but that wood heat certainly drove away the morning chill! :-)

Bill.....I stopped cutting my grass/weeds in Bear Creek about 2 weeks ago. Doesn't grow much under the 60' spruce trees.
Sounds like you're moving right along with your 520 installation....saw your coal bin pics...you can use that for a 1950s style nuke bunker....

The crap is still growing on this mountain. It'll stop soon enough and so will my allergies. My coal bunker could double for a bomb shelter if it had a concrete roof. :D

48* in this part of the world this morning. I can wait a few more weeks, don't want it to get cold too soon. Lots of fishing to do yet.

The forecast for this week looks pretty cool and wet as well. I got the Hitzer all hooked up today and lit a wood fire to season the grates. I will probably burn a few more wood fires in it to finish curing the paint. Now all I need is a nice chilly night to give it the anthracite test. :dancing:
