McCain Suspending Campaign & Debate

I know, I just saw the new Presidential coin.

John McCain spends years in a POW camp facing torture and despicable treatment. In his political carreer he has engaged in many debates and been involved in spontaneous questioning about subjects that were not too pleasant. Yet suddenly in September 2008 he becomes a coward who is too inept to debate the economy that is in the crapper. I find that hard to believe. Sure McCain is doing what he thinks the american public would expect a President to do. After all Bush was slammed for not jumping up from that school house and rushing to Washington when told the planes were crashing on 9-11. McCain and Obama are paid to be Senators not Presidential Hopefulls so I say get back to Washington in a crisis and do your job. Having a debate wont help pay my bills when my company starts laying off because no one can purchase cars. Can't a debate wait one week?

Notice it was done without the help of John McCain? I guess he has no choice but to face the music in the debate now.

Well....Believe it because it is true. Whatever John McCain used to be is besides the point.......The 2008 version of John McCain is not an honorable, trustworthy or honest man any more. If you want to vote for someone who used to be great, how about voting for Abraham Lincoln? (are you going to let a little fact like............ he is presently dead stop you?........ The "Straight Talking" John McCain of yesteryear is just as dead as Lincoln! )

Bob Schieffer reports that Henry Paulson asked John McCain to get involved:

"Paulson then called, according to my sources, Senator Lindsey Graham, who is very close to John McCain, and told him: you've got to get the people in the McCain campaign, you've got to convince John McCain to give these Republicans some political cover. If you don't do that, this whole bailout plan is going to fail. So that's how, McCain, apparently, became involved."

I used to have a lot of respect for McCain because of his war service. I always look up to Nam vets. They are like older brothers that served in an unpopular war while I was in high school. That being said just because you're a Nam vet doesn't make you honorable. Duke Conyngham (sp) was a fighter ace and true war hero. He got into congress and wound up being a thief. I believe he is still serving a jail sentence for bribery etc. McCain is not the guy I used to admire.

(How about this scenario: McCain, knowing that the first debate couldn't avoid the financial crisis & that he was going to get killed debating Obama, was afraid & tried to run away from the fight?)

Who knows what to beleive with these politicians !I will say Mc Cain at least showed some interest in going back to DC and working on the problem and Obama acted like a spoiled kid and says Mc Cain should be able to do multi tasking. I say the hell with the debate and get back there and do the job your getting paid to do and I am not talking a 9-5 job. Get in there and don't come away until this situation is resolved. I don't care about Rep. or Demo or whatever, Just represent the people !!!! By the way, Where does Obama stand on burning coal ????

I did some searching and all the stories I found said it was a mutual agreement and that they both approached the debate commission with the request. I see the house of republicans ruined the deal in principle that was drawn up. House republicans were in the meeting yesterday morning and didn't even say anything about their so called new plan or of any of the ideas that they wished to see in the bill. They all waited to say the deal was off until they were sitting in a meeting with the president of the United States. Talk about low balling? It appears that McCain likes their new idea but has yet to back it. The only problem is it has nothing to do with the Paulson plan and makes everyone have to start all over again in discussions.


It has been said that they will continue to negotiate for as many weeks as it may take. If it takes three or four weeks will John McCain make it to a debate for we hold the elections?

I guess I respect John McCain for his service to country but I am voting for him because of his willingness to vote across party lines when he feels an issue is important. Unfortunately that is exactly why he didn't get the support he needed from Republicans in 2000. He was viewed as too liberal and Bush was the anti-McCain so here we are 8 years later and McCain has changed to garner support from his party. Does McCain walk on water that is a big NO but you know what Obama or Nader or Paul don't either. Even past Presidents who are considered great had shortcomings but we tend to forget the bad when placing these people on a pedistal. No matter who gets elected it is going to take more than 4 years to get out of this mess and it is going to take a lot of bipartianship leadership to accomplish anything. You guys can try to change my mind but I think McCain although imperfect is the man for the job. One of the great aspects of our country is freedom of speech and the democratic process of elections so I respect your opinions and your right to vote for your candidate.

I still find it hard to believe McCain is trying to run away from a debate with Obama. I'm sure he knew that by proposing a delay in the debate that he would open himself up to this criticism but felt the crisis was important enough to take the chance that and it may give his opponent and detractors ammunition. So I guess we will have to agree to disagree.

The emergency situation that McCain had to rush back to Washington for, a 45 minute flight from New York, instead took him a full 26 hours to make. He has not stopped his political campaigning .(every state McCain campaign office was open for business & almost all his TV ads went on, as scheduled)
Let's all face it.....The "Straight Talking" John McCain of 2000 (& earlier) no longer exists. Instead we have a cranky, GW Bush clone who is incapable of telling the truth, owns 7 homes & 13 automobiles (some foreign imports) & has no clue or interest in the plight of the average American.

11:00AM--Now it appears that even though no bailout bill is on the horizon, McCain realizes how silly he looked trying to run from the debate tonight, will again flip-flop & now will attend. Quite a leader, eh?
(btw, McCain had almost no input in the deliberations & still refuses to even announce his support/non support of any bailout bill)
