Where to begin.....

pvolcko wrote:So over the last 8 years, dems had it for 3.5 years and Repubs had it for 4.5 years.

I'll check your representation of the facts later Paul but, for the sake of argument I'll accept them for now. Even if you are correct, with your admitting Republicans had complete control of The Senate for 4,5 years and the White House at the same time, why weren't they able to "save us" from the evil, Godless,non-American Flag pin wearing, mostly homosexual Democrats in that long period of time??? Such inept governance does not warrant being repeated! ;)

pvolcko wrote:This was needed because republican's couldn't rule the roost with the narrow majority they had, the minority democrats had a great deal of power over what came up for vote

The majority has total control over the legislative agenda. You are simply wrong here.

pvolcko wrote:I note that Bush, Greenspan, McCain and a number of others made their attempts to wake people up to this looming threat in that 2003-2007 period, and were shut down each time by Senate democrats. As much as you'd like to think of Bush as Czar of the country and Republicans as supreme rulers of the congress, it simply is not even remotely the case.

A very nice Republican "Bedtime" story with no basis in reality........But I do enjoy a nice fairy tale from time to time. :baby:

pvolcko wrote:here is certainly a Bush/Republican role in this mess

A "role" in this mess????
(You'll see how much of a "role" the American voter thinks they had, on 11/4.

pvolcko wrote:And that video was very good. Cuts were a bit too frenetic for my taste, but it was highly effective in making the case for a large Democrat hand in this mess. Despite it's partisan bent,

"Despite it's partisan bent".... That's like saying "Despite the unpleasantness at the end , overall you could say that the play at the Ford Theater that night was enjoyed by the Lincolns."

No matter how you Bush/McCain apologists try to torture logic & the English language, the American people fully understand who was really to blame here. .....You Republicans!....Just look at the polls & how McCain is plummeting in them & how many Congressional seats you guys are projected to lose this year.
My final proof is only a few weeks away now but if you care to join our bet, I'll be happy to accept some coal from you as well! (Blaschak Nut...if you please.) ;)

Funny you should mention Barney Frank. I was listening to CSPAN radio yesterday and he was being interviewed. A caller really nailed him with direct quotes of his regarding Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and the housing bill that forced banks to make sub prime loans. (By the Way, did you know Barneys boy toy works at Freddie Mac and Barney is the chairman of the oversight committee for them) He lied and weasled and tried to explain away his previous comments which all fly in the face of what he is saying now. What a scum bucket.

I'm not going to defend Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, GW Bush, John McCain, B. Obama, Dick Cheney or any of them. My general feelings are that the Republicans bare the vast majority of the blame for the calamities that have afflicted us since Bush took office (Iraq War, Oil prices, Katrina, the economy, etc) & the Democrats are guilty of the charge of "Cowardice in the face of the enemy." They have failed to live up to their solemn oath to defend the Constitution!

I don't trust any of them!

(term limits is the only long term answer, imo)
