Correct Size Furnace?

That method will get you roughly in the 'ballpark'.. the best method would be to do a heat loss study on your house.
Most heating units for homes are oversized, mainly because people would really complain if their house was unable to stay at a comfortable temperature. Compared to original, your home may have much better windows now, and maybe you have increased the insulation in you home too.
So just matching the BTU output of your current furnace could give you a much larger than needed unit..

Heat loss is positively the best way to determine your need, however there are some BTU calculators out there as well
