Sorry about the *bump* but I'm a noob and still struggling with 2 questions:
1. How hot is too hot? I've rested a meat thermometer on top of the stove and Iget 130 to 140 normally. I keep reading that if I run it too hot I will warp the feeder, but I don't know what too hot is. Two other people on the boards incdicated they never set their stoves past "2". I've got mine at "3" but I think the adjustment may be out of whack.
2. How much/often should I be cleaning it. I've gone to twice a day and I poke it until I see some red embers falling through the grate. I've also read that I should leave a layer of ash so I don't melt the grates over time. Should I be cleaning less?
